Martin Koeman


Martin Koeman (* 26 of July of 1938 - † 18 of December of 2013) was a Dutch soccer player.

Koeman played professional football with KFC of Koog aan de Zaan between 1955-60, Blauw-Wit Amsterdam between 1960-63, GVAV / Groningen between 1963-73 and SC Heerenveen until his retirement. He was regularly selected for the Netherlands national football team but only played one game against Austria on 12 April 1964. Despite his respectable career, he is best known for being the father of Erwin and Ronald Koeman, who followed in the footsteps of his father as footballers, with his two sons playing in Groningen and the Dutch team.

On December 18, 2013, at the age of 75, Martin Koeman died of cardiac arrest a few days before.
