Höfund according to the Hervarar saga was a Viking chieftain, king of Glæsisvellir and heir to the throne of Jotun Gudmund, who ruled over that territory called Jötunheim.

Höfund married a Skjaldmö warrior named Hervör and they had two sons, Angantyr and Heidrek. Heidrek had a very violent temperament and was exiled by Höfund after killing a man. Despite all the king tried to advise his son wisely how to behave in the face of the events of life, advice that Heidrek despised. In spite of the intricacies and swings by disobeying his father, Heidrek entered the service of the gothic king Harald and became king of Reidgotaland, by a coup d'etat backed by half of the Gothic army.
