Pindl was born as the youngest of nine children of Josef and Franziska Pindl in Regensburg. During the Second World War, he served for three years at the front in Russia and fell into British captivity towards the end of the war. After returning home, he took a position in the area of ​​professional orientation at the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) in 1946. After a year he became head of the office and, with 125 teachers, built the offer of the DGB in Niederbayern and the Upper Palatinate. In 1948 the DGB introduced its activities in this field.
