The Ignotus Prize is a literary award established in 1991 that annually awards the Spanish Association of Fantasy, Science Fiction and Terror (AEFCFT) to Spanish and foreign authors. It seeks to be an equivalent to the American Hugo Award for Spain and takes its name from the pseudonym with which he signed his works, at the beginning of the 20th century, the writer José de Elola. It is granted to works published in Spain during the year that have been preselected by their own associates and distinguishes several categories:

In 2010, a "RetroIgnotus Award" was awarded exceptionally, resulting in the 1988 novel, Sons of Eternity by Javier Redal and Juan Miguel Aguilera.

The Board of Directors can also provide, at the discretion of the Gabriel Awards, to highlight the contributions of a specific personality. Established in 1994, they replaced the lifetime awards, delivered since 1991.

Members of AEFCFT and other related associations have the right to vote, and fans registered at HispaCon this year.
