Ōtenta


The Ōtenta (jap. 大典 太) is a Japanese Tachi sword and a national treasure of Japan. The sword is one of the tenka-goken ("five best swords under the sky"). The Ōtenta is said to have been made by the sword-maker Tenta Mitsuyo (典 太 光 世) in the late Heian period. The Ōtenta has a blade length of about 66.1 centimeters, on the spitzer a blade width of 2.5 centimeters and has a Sori of 2.7 centimeters. The Ōtenta was a treasure of the Ashikaga Shōgunate. After the fall of the Ashikaga Shōgunat, the Ōtenta was kept by the Maeda family. Weblinks Edit sourcetext
