Johannes Zacharias
Johannes Zachariae (* before 1384; † 26th July 1428 in Erfurt) was an Augustinian hermit, theologian at the University of Erfurt and preacher at the Council of Constance. He wrote numerous commentaries on church themes and advocated the unity and reform of the church of his time.
Only the explanations of the first 11 chapters in the Stadtbibliothek Trier are handed down from his main work Expositio in Apocalypsim (explanation of the revelation of John), on which he worked for ten years. The declarations of the remaining chapters, which have been proven to be written, are considered to be lost. Theologians such as Johannes Schiphower or Martin Luther wrote Zachariae a decisive participation in the condemnation of Jan Hus, but this is questioned by modern historical research.
Zachariae was buried in the Augustinian church in Erfurt, which still reminds him of an epitaph before the main altar. Edit source text Standard data (person): GND: 118712713 (PICA, AKS) | LCCN: n84120443 VIAF: 88707302 Wikipedia People Search
