Araucano (AO-53)


The Araucano (AO-53) is a fleet tanker, built at the Burmeister and Wain shipyards in Denmark. It was incorporated to the Chilean Navy in 1967. It reaches a speed of 16.5 knots. While it was active with the Chilean navy, its base port was Valparaiso. This ship displaces 23,600 tons and is armed with two 40 mm / 56 double assemblies. The cost of this vessel was DKK 3 350 000.

After spending almost 44 years in service, was discharged by the Chilean Navy on November 13, 2010 in the bay of Valparaiso.
