Statue of John Trithemius

Sculpture Johannes Trithemius between old and new mosel bridge. Trittenheim

The statue of St. John Trithemius in Trittenheim was created by the local sculptor Walter Hennig in honor of the important abbot and scholar Johannes Trithemius, born in 1462 in the village.

The bronze sculpture depicts a life-size seated man in a medieval scholar's face with a scholar's cap and a opened book on his knees. The figure rests on a base about 1.20 meters high, with the coat of arms and an inscription "Johannes Trithemius 1462 1516".

The monument, which was unveiled in front of the parish church on August 11, 1962, was moved to the junction between the old and the new Moselle Bridge in 1967. Single-level Edit source text
