Dorothea Maria Lösch, married Dorothea Maria Theslöf or Theslef, * 1730; † February 2, 1799 in Stockholm, was, according to an older source, the first female shipping captain of Sweden. Further spellings of her birth name are Dorothea Maria Losch or Dorothea Maria Läsch.

The most important to Lösch's life is Wilhelmina Stålberg's publication Anteckningar om svenska quinnor (Recordings / Notes on Swedish Women) of 1864. There is a record "Among the women who have distinguished themselves through courage and bravery, Ms Theslöf is an excellent performer Role. During the larger and decisive warfare on the Svensksund on July 9th, 1790, she took command of the ship Armida, after all officers had been killed, injured, or commanded. For this heroic act she received from King Gustav III. the power of captain of the Swedish fleet. This authority should still exist. "

Modern investigations, however, were unable to find any further documents on the events on the ship Armida. Furthermore, the aforementioned authority is lost. Assuredly, in 1756, Lösch married the Corvette captain Mårten Johan Theslef, with whom he had 11 children and spent large parts of her life in Finland. She published a medical treatise for the treatment of smallpox in 1765. Calculate source text Standard data (person): Wikipedia person search | No GND person record. Last Review: 18 February 2017.
