Vicente Rojo Lluch


Vicente Rojo Lluch (* October 8. 1894 in Énguera, Valencia; June 15. June 1966 in Madrid) war ein spanischer General.

Rojo was raised as a son of a deceased military in an orphanage and later entered the infantry academy in Toledo. After their completion in 1914, as the fourth of 390 cadets, were followed in Morocco and Catalonia. In 1936, he graduated as a General Staff officer and was found as such in Madrid.

At the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in the same year, he remained loyal to the Republican government and became one of their military leaders during the conflict. In 1936, he succeeded in keeping the advance general Emilio Molas in Madrid and organizing the subsequent defenses of the city. Rojo also planned the last Republican offensives that led to the Battle of Teruel and the Battle of Ebro. He was one of the four military who were awarded the Placa Laureada de Madrid.
