Teodora Giebułtowska


Teodora Matejkowa nee Giebułtowska (born 1846, died August 25, 1896 in Krakow) - the daughter of Antoni Giebułtowski and Paulina Sikorska, was the wife of the Polish painter Jan Matejko.

She came from a Giebułtowski family, friends of her future husband's family. The 21 of November of 1864 married Polish painter Jan Matejko. After her marriage, she moved to Krakow, where five children were born: Tadeusz, Helena, Beata, Jerzy and Regina. Shortly after marriage, Matejkowa became ill with diabetes, and in the last years of mental illness. She often poses to her husband for paintings, especially as Bona Sforza, or Barbara Radziwiłł.
