José Fernández Saavedra (Puebla de Sanabria, Zamora, July 30, 1956) is a Spanish politician. He exerts like teacher in his native town, of which he is mayor since 1991, being also secretary general of the PSOE of Zamora and Provincial Deputy in the Provincial Delegation of Zamora from 1995. In the elections to Cortes Generales of 2004 was chosen like senator by Zamora , being the unique senator who left chosen by the lists of the minority without heading the list. In the Senate of Spain he held the position of Vice-speaker of the Socialist Group in the Commission on the Information Society and Knowledge. In the general election of November of 2011 returned to be chosen senator by the province of Zamora.

Member of the executive committee of the PSOE of Castilla y León, resigned with 26 other members of the executive in May 2014, forcing the dissolution of the leadership that was commanded by Julio Villarrubia.
