Carlos Bianchi (Athletics)


Carlos Bianchi (Carlos Antonio Bianchi Lutti, born 19 December 1910 in Córdoba, † 1935) was an Argentine sprinter.

Bianchi Lutti won his first international medal at the South American Championships in Lima in 1929 when he finished second in the 100-meter race after his countryman Hérnan Spinassi. Two years later, at the South American Championships in Buenos Aires in 1931, he was the most successful participant with three gold medals. At 10.9 seconds he won more than 100 meters, over 200 meters he won in 21.9 seconds, and as the Argentine side's 4 times 100 meter relay, he was also the first to reach the finish line.

At the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1932, he dropped 10.5 seconds in the semi-final in 10.7 seconds after running 10.5 seconds in the quarter-finals. Over 200 m he improved his personal record in the quarterfinals to 21.4 seconds. In the final he finished in 21.6 seconds to the fifth place behind three US-Americans and the German Arthur Jonath. In 1933 he improved over 100 m to 10.4 seconds, but did not join the South American Championship.
