Alojz Ipavec


Alojz Ipavec (auch: Lojze Ipavic; * May 20, 1815 in Šentjur; † 17 July 1849 in Györ) war ein slowenischer Komponist.

The brother of Gustav and Benjamin Ipavec attended the Gymnasium in Celje and then studied medicine in Vienna and Graz. He worked as a military doctor in Hungary. Because of a severe typhoid infection, he took his life from a window. Among his compositions are waltzes in the style of Johann Strauss and Joseph Lanners (Snowdrops, Heimaths, Sirens-Waltzes), a Fantaisie en forme d'une Polonaise and a mourning for piano and romantic songs in German and Slovenian texts , Škerjanček).
