Ores

In Greek mythology, Orséis or Orseide, (Greek: Oρσηίς, Orsêís) was the aquatic nymph (náyade) of a source of Thessaly (Greece), and the mythical ancestor of the Greeks.

It is not clear whether it was the daughter of Ocean or the god-river of Thessaly, Peneo. There is even the possibility that she was the daughter of Zeus and Deino, one of the Grayas. According to the Mythological Library of Pseudo-Apollodorus, Orsis married Helen, the legendary eponymous ancestor of the Greeks and son of Deucalion and Pirra and brother of Pandora. His sons, Doro, Juto (in turn with their sons Ion and Achaean), and Eolo, along with the sons of Pandora with Zeus: Grecos, Magnes and Macedno, were the founders of the seven primordial tribes of Hellas: Dorians, Ionians, Achaeans, Aeolians, Greeks, Magicians and Macedonians).
