Matthias Palbitzki


Matthias Palbitzki (23 December 1623, 20 October 1677 in Julita, Södermanland) was a Swedish diplomat and Connoisseur of Arts. He was well known for his diplomatic skills and in 1675 was promoted to Swedish Baron. Lifetime

It is believed that Palbitzki was born in Słupsk, where his father Georg Matthias Palbitzki was the mayor of a Pomeranian District. From 1630 he was taught by private tutors and attended in 1637 to the Danzig Gymnastics Academy. for the continuity of the Thirty Years War in Pomerania, which also impacted the states where the family resided, in 1640 his mother sent him to Sorø Academy. In 1642 with his brother he went on a tour of the Dutch Republic and France to enter military service.
