Bridge of Lovings

The Bridge of Amores (Pont des Amours) is a gateway located in Annecy, on the edge of the lake of Annecy, at the entrance of the canal of Vassé on the Thiou, and connecting the Pont de Annecy with the Gardens of Europe.

The legend says that two lovers who kiss the bridge, will be united for life. History

The first municipal project of a footbridge dates back to 1836. In 1845, coinciding with the visit of King Carlos Alberto of Sardinia, the construction of a wooden walkway was carried out to allow spectators to pass through to see the illumination of the channel. After many projects were presented in 1855, a bridge of three arches was inaugurated in 1859, by Claude Grandchamp, called the catwalk of the public garden.

On November 18, 1906, the bridge was replaced by another one of iron, project of Charles Galletto, that would be inaugurated a year later, the 8 of November of 1907, on the occasion of the placement of a monument to Eugène Sue .
