Parents' Committee


Landelternausschüsse are in Germany representations of the parents of the schools and Kindertagesstätten at country level. Depending on the state, the parent organizations are also called advisory councils. Because of the federalism existing in Germany, there are different rights and legal anchors.

Similar to the parental representation in the individual childcare centers and schools, the representations of the parents represent the concerns of the children against the provincial governments, the responsible ministries, regional youth offices, the political parties as well as professional, support and interest groups. At the same time one is the central contact point of the parents in the kindergarten or school.

In Rhineland-Palatinate, the work of the Regional Committee for Child Day Care Centers and Regional Parents' Committees is legally anchored on the city or district level (Kitgesetz-RLP §3 Satz 4).

In Hamburg, the Regional Committee (LEA) consists of five delegates each from the seven district committees (BEA). The district committees are composed of the elected parents 'representatives of the daycare centers (parents' councils), day care centers (day care centers, day care centers) and the afternoon care of the new open day school (GBS).
