A mixed water discharge (rain relief or in Germany also rain overflow) is a construction of the mixed water canalisation. Since the peak discharges can not be treated in the sewage treatment plant during heavy rainfall, mixed water discharges are built at suitable locations, where mixed water is of the order of 7 to 15 times (without further storage) or 2 or 3 times the waste water discharge (with additional storage) to the sewage plant and the remaining dilute water is discharged into a body of water or into the rainwater channel. This discharge is usually combined with a rainwater treatment. Structural Types Edit the source text
