The Missouri Meerschaum Company is an American tobacco whistle maker based in Washington, Missouri. It is the oldest and largest producer of corn cobs worldwide. The company was founded in 1869 by the Dutch-born American Henry Tibbe, when he began to sell tobacco pipes made from corncobs in his store. In 1878, Tibbe patented his method of making the pipe refractory with the help of a special paste. In 1907 the "H.Tibbe & Son Co." in the present name "Missouri Meerschaum".
