Due to the magnificent work of Marathi encyclopedia, he is known as 'Knowledge-based Ketkar'. introduction

Sridhar Venkatesh Ketkar was born in Raipur, now in Chhattisgarh. His early education took place in Amravati and Wilson College, Mumbai, which ran in an irregular way. He showed good interest in acquiring knowledge of various subjects and enthusiastically took interest in many activities related to literature, yet he could not get any university degree here.

In 1906 he went to the United States After spending five years at Cornell University, in 1911, he graduated from P.H. D.V Degree received His research was titled 'History of caste in India' (The History of Caste in India). In this he did a critical analysis of the social situations reflected in Manusmriti. He has composed Manusmriti in between 227 and 320 AD. In the article 'caste and human race' given in its supplementary form, he emphasized the fundamental difference of 'character' and 'caste'. In the United States, he spent his time in acquiring knowledge of various subjects, who were instrumental in the construction of the Marathi Vigyan Kosh, the main texts of his life. While returning, he stayed in London for a year and continued there with studies and research on social topics. Here he published the second volume of the history of castes, entitled 'Essay on Hinduism, its Formation and Future'.

After coming to India, Ketkar spent a few years teaching the political science and economics at the University of Calcutta. At the same time, he published two other texts - Indian Economics and Hindu Law (Hindu Law and the Methods and Principles of the Historical Study of Life).

He formally started the great literary ritual of Marathi encyclopaedia in January 1916. They had the hope of publishing it in five years but in fact only the first block was made in 1921 and the twenty-first section (index) was published in 1929. The extraordinary race for the 13-14 year period from 1916 to 1929 was of sunny activity, as well as working with the editor, administrator, printer, publisher, even at the place of place, to make him his client. Did it. Along with this work seeker and with the completion of his engagement, he used to engage in other works - literary, social and political - in equal measure. He used to edit a daily newspaper and a literature magazine and write novels, political books and essays related to social science. In addition, he used to do a lot of exploration work in connection with his future book 'History of Ancient Maharashtra'. But we have to accept this fact that seeing his compositions since the 1930s makes it clear that there has been a decrease in the mental receptivity of the skilled writers of the past.
