Poliacrilamidas

Polyacrylamide gels are used in polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE). They have the advantage of being transparent, insoluble in water, easy to prepare and able to control the size of the pores by concentration. Another application of polyacrylamides is that of flocculants. They are divided into three anionic, cationic and nonionic types. Anionic polyacrylamides are manufactured from acrylamide monomer and an anionic monomer (sodium acrylate, ammonium acrylate). Cationic polyacrylamides are produced by copolymerization of acrylamide monomer and a cationic acrylic monomer. Nonionic polyacrylamides are produced from acrylamide monomer.
