Sadachbia

Sadachbia or Sadalachbia is the name of the star γ Aquarii (γ Aqr / 48 Aquarii) in the constellation Aquarius. Although bearing the Bayer name "Gamma", it has only apparent magnitude +3.86 and is the eighth brightest star in the constellation. Its name comes from the Arabic Sa'd al-Akhbiyah and means "Lucky star of the tents" - meaning the tents as dwellings - although it has also been interpreted like "Lucky star of the hidden things".

Sadachbia is a white star of the main sequence of spectral type A0V whose effective temperature reaches the 9500 K. This class of stars are quite frequent among the stars that can be observed with the naked eye. Vega (α Lyrae), Phecda (γ Ursae Majoris) and Alphecca (α Coronae Borealis) are similar to it. Its luminosity, equivalent to 62 suns, is similar to any of these, but its greater distance from the Solar System, 158 light years, makes its visual magnitude smaller. Its mass is slightly less than 3 solar masses.

Sadachbia is a binary star, whose nature is known only by the study of its spectrum. Of the stellar companion nothing is known, except that it completes an orbit every 58 days and moves at a distance from the main star of at least 0.40 AU.
