Mohammed Mehedi Uld Ben Ismael

Mohammed Mehdi Ben Ismael (? -Tutuan, October 24, 1923) was the jalifa of the Spanish protectorate of Morocco.

Prince Mohammed Mehedi Ben Ismael Ben Mohamed IV of Morocco Ben Abd ar-Rahman ibn Hisham was the first jalifa of the Spanish protectorate in Morocco. Muley Ismail was a brother of the Sultan of Morocco, Hassan I. Muley Mehdi was a cousin of the sultans Abd al-Aziz of Morocco, Abd al-Hafid and Mulay Yusuf.

He was appointed jalifa of the Spanish protectorate on April 19, 1913, and made the official entrance in Tetuan on April 27 of the same month, being chief commissioner General Alfau.

His right hand was Ben Azouz, the prime minister. Ben Azouz was the strongest man in the jalifa in almost every business. His Minister of Finance and Finance was Muley Sadiq Raissouni, cousin and interlocutor of Ahmed al-Raisuli.

In addition, the rebel peoples under Ahmed al-Raisuli and Abd el-Krim challenged the sovereignty of the jalifa.
