Amé Jules Pictet (born July 12, 1857 in Geneva, Switzerland, March 11, 1937) was a Swiss chemist

Pictet promoted 1879 by August von Kekulé. From 1894 to 1932 he held a professorship at the University of Geneva. In 1889 he synthesized the phenanthridine from benzalaniline by pyrolysis in the glow tube. In 1903 he synthesized nicotine for the first time. In the field of carbohydrate chemistry, in 1928 he synthesized sucrose from its building blocks glucose and fructose. In 1932 he became a member of the Leopoldina.
