Calañés hat

Hat of Calañas is a traditional hat made in the municipality of Calañas, in the province of Huelva (Andalusia, Spain). Sometimes, the hat of Calafate is denominated hat castoreño, to be made with felt made with beaver hair or similar. Description

This is a low conical cup top hat and turned upwards forming a canuto, with a garnish at the tip of the cup and on one side of the wing. The Calafate hat is a small hat that fits with a ribbon and is tilted to one side of the head. More than practical is a decorative hat.

It is also known as a Cañeñés hat to a truncated conical cup hat not very high and turned upwards in a canuto. The latter is similar to the catite hat except in details of its shape and proportions and usually carries a fringe trim or falls attached to the top of the cup and falling to one side of the hat. Both typologies can be carried on a handkerchief tied at the nape of the head.
