Lakhimpur Kheri District


Lakhimpur Kheri is a district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The headquarters here is in Lakhimpur. There is also a district named Lakhimpur in Assam. Kheeri is a district of Uttar Pradesh state. This district is surrounded by Indo-Nepal border and Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Sitapur and Behrkh districts. Kheeri is also known as Lakhimpur-Kheeri district. Earlier this place was known as Lakshmipur district. In ancient times, this district was surrounded by trees of Khar. Hence, the name Kheeri is a symbol of the Kharka tree. Gola, Devalkali, Lilotinath and Frang Temple are especially famous in the major tourist spots here. In view of area, this district is one of the largest districts of Uttar Pradesh.
