Shiv Prasad Gupta
Babu Shiva Prasad Gupta (June 28, 1883 - April 24, 1944) was India's freedom struggle fighter, philanthropist, nationalist activist and great leader. He established Kashi Vidyipatty. Babu Shiv Prasad Gupta was born in June 1883 in a prosperous Vaishish family of Benares. He studied Sanskrit, Persian and Hindi at home only. He passed the graduate examination from Allahabad. He was very influenced by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, Lala Lajpat Rai, Mahatma Gandhi, Acharya Narendra Dev and Dr. Das Das.
Although he was born in a rich industrial estate and landlord family, he spent all his life in participating in various movement for the freedom struggle of India and helping them financially. Babu Shiv Prasad Gupta had given support to the revolutionaries, he went to jail several times due to his nationalistic activities. He had left his studies in the midst of joining the Indian Freedom Struggle, which is now a university, to set up Kashi Vidyapeeth in Varanasi, to give them an opportunity to complete their education.
