Paliacate

Trinidad Ramírez impones a paliacate to Evo Morales. Paragraph of Paul and Virginia

The bandana is a handkerchief with a characteristic drawing whose origin, the cashmere, came from India. The palatial ones are very rooted in the Mexican traditions.

The SAR considers that the etymology comes from the Spanish "pal" (for the) and of the Nahuatl "yacatl" (nose), but the most probable thing is that the word comes from Paliacate, the old name of a town in the state of Tamil Nadu, India, now known as Pulicat. From this village came the handkerchiefs, which is how they were known and eventually they were called simply paliacates.

They are used to protect the necks of the shirts of shirts, to dry the sweat, like decoration or as accessory in many regional costumes. They can also be used to cover of the sun, like adornment, etc.
