José Fontaner y Martell

José Fontaner y Martell was a seventeenth-century Spanish poet, born in Tarragona.

It seems that it was found on the site of Barcelona (1652) and had to take refuge in France for having taken a very active part in the disturbances that shook Catalonia at the time. Work

He is supposed to be the author of the Pastoral Tragicomedy of love, firm and persevering and with several verses; all written in Catalan. He is also credited with the poem The Temper of Glory. All these productions are of relevant merit, so this poet may appear among the mekores of the seventeenth century.
