Today the name Geeta Press Gorakhpur is not unknown to any Indian. There will hardly be a family in the world having a belief in Sanatan Hindu culture which will not be familiar with the name of the Geeta Press Gorakhpur. In this country and in every corner of the world, from the Ramayana, the Gita, the Vedas, the Puranas and the Upanishads, the only credit for reaching the stories of the saints of the ancient India, Geeta Press is the founder of Gorakhpur, Bhai Hanuman Prasad Poddar. By staying away from the propaganda and acting like an absentee and unarmed worker, Bhaiji has contributed in bringing the beliefs of Hindu culture to the house-house, it is difficult to find an example in history. life

According to the Indian calendar, in the year 1949 (1892 AD) of Vikram Samvat, he was born on the day of Pradosha of Ashwin Krishna. This year this date is Saturday, October 6th. In Ratangarh, Rajasthan, Lala Bhimraj Agarwal and his wife were devotees of Rakhi Bai Hanuman, they named their son Hanuman Prasad. At the age of two, her mother was raised by her grandmother after her mother's death. Among the religious rituals of the grandmother, child Hanuman has been studying the stories of Gita, Ramayana Vedas, Upanishads and Puranas from childhood. These rites had a deep impact on the child. In childhood he was taught the text of Hanuman Kavach. Saint Brujdas of Nimbarkar community initiated the child. Freedom Struggle

At that time the country was chained in slavery chains. His father was in Calcutta because of his business, and this with his grandfather in Assam. In Calcutta, they came in contact with freedom fighters revolutionaries Arvind Ghosh, Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das, Pandit Jhabbaram Sharma and jumped into the Independence Movement. After this, when Lokmanya Tilak and Gopalakrishna Gokhale came to Calcutta, Brother Bhai came in contact with him and after that Gandhi met Gandhiji. Brother Ji was very impressed with the '1857 freedom struggle book' written by Veer Savkarkar and in 1938 he went to Mumbai to meet Veer Savarkar. In 1906, he organized a movement against the use of cow fat in clothes and started a struggle for the exclusion of foreign goods and foreign clothes. They started using khadi and indigenous items only in youth. Vikram Samvat, when Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya came to Calcutta with the aim of collecting funds for the establishment of Benaras Hindu University in 1971, Bhaiji donated a donation for the work with many people. Arrests

In a case of freedom struggle in Calcutta and working with revolutionaries, the then British government arrested Hanuman Prasad Poddar, several prominent businessmen, on charges of sedition, and sent them to jail. These people had helped to hide and hide a wick of the British government's arms. In jail Jai Bhaiji started worshiping Hanuman ji. He was later detained in Alipore jail. During exorcism, Bhaiji made a lot of time, he used to start his daily routine at three o'clock in the morning and spent the entire time meditating on God. Later, he was sent to Shimlal prison in Punjab. There was a homeopathic doctor in jail for the health checkup of the prisoners, Bhai Ji learned the nuances of homeopathy from this doctor and after studying the books of Homeopathy, he started treating patients himself. Later, he came to Mumbai with the inspiration of Jamnalal Bajaj. Here he came in close contact with the heroes like Veer Savarkar, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Mahadev Desai and Krishnadas Jaju.

In Mumbai they organized Agarwal Youths and established Marwari Khadi Prashashbani Mandal. After this, he came to the satsang of the famous music teacher Vishnu Digambar and the music flow in his heart was overflowing. Then he wrote devotional songs which were published in the name of 'Letter-Flower'. In Mumbai, he was very impressed by his Mausare Bhai Jyyyyal Goenka ji's Geeta lesson. Seeing the curiosity about his love for the Gita and the gita of the people, Bhai Ji had said that he would make available the best fortune to the people at the lowest price. Then he wrote a commentary on the Gita and it was published in the commercial press of Calcutta. Already sold version five thousand copies. But Bhaiji was sad that there was a lot of mistakes in this book. After this he brought out a revised version of it but it was also repeated in the mistakes. The matter of Bhai ji's heart was deep and he decided that until this time his own press will not go, this task will not go forward. This is the only small resolution that formed the basis of the establishment of Geeta Press Gorakhpur. His brother Goenka's trade was then in Bankura (Bengal) and he used to stay outside in connection with the discourse on the Gita. Then the problem was that where the press should be placed. His friend Ghanshyam Das Jalan used to do business in Gorakhpur. They assured to put the press in Gorakhpur and give full support to this work. After this, the Geeta Press was established on April 29, 1923.

== Kalyan was inaugurated in the year 1983 (1926 AD) in the annual session of the Marwar Agarwal Mahasabha in Delhi. Its chairman was Seth Jamnalal Bajaj, and Swatakasan was the President, Shri Atmaram Khemka. Initially Khemakaji had refused to be the President of the state for some reasons, later he got ready with the insistence of Seth Jaidayal Goyndka. The session was about to start the question, to write the welcome speech. Khemka was a scientist and a scholar, but he did not have the practice of writing Hindi. He prayed to Shri Goindka to prepare the speech. Mr. Goyendka ordered Poddarji to prepare a speech by going to Delhi. Poddar went to Delhi and in 24 hours he wrote a very abstract abstract speech and printed it. People were very impressed by the thoughts expressed in it. Seth Ghanshyam Das Birla also came to attend the session. Although he did not have complete unanimity with Podar, he liked that speech. On the second day, expressing his reaction, he said to Poddarji - What are the opinions of you people, how are they right, do not criticize us. But they are being promoted by you in the society, people believe it too far. If you had a "Letter" of your thoughts and principles, then people would get more success. You get a letter of your thoughts. Poddar said - the thing is fine but I have no experience in this regard. Birla said urging while urging. That time the thing ended here. Ghanshyam Das Ji had given a talk in the form of a consultation. But the same thing became the reason for the birth of Kalyan magazine. After the convention was over, all the people went to their places. Poddar went to Bombay. In those days, going from Delhi to Bombay, Rewari had to go to Ahmedabad and from there the train was changed to Bombay. Poddar went to Delhi from Rewari. Bhiwani had half an hour's journey from Rewari. Poddarji stayed there for a day when he came to Bhiwani to meet Seth Jaidayal Goindakaji. Seth ji had to be locked and poddar ji was bombed. Both came together from Bhiwani to Rewari. On the way, he discussed the suggestion given by Gharshyamdasji. He considered this idea good to Seth Ji, and he was also Lakhhiram Murodiya, his follower. They also agreed. He took the promise from Poddar that he would give him two hours each day for editing. Poddar talked about his inexperience, but Murodiyaji silenced him. Now the question of name came. Out of the mouth of Poddar ji "Kalyan" | Seth ji and Murodiya ji liked this name. This talk is on the day of Chaitra Shukla 9 Sankat1983 Shri Ram Navami. With this it was decided that welfare should be started from Akshay Tritiya (Vaishak Shukla Tritiya).

One day Khemraj Shri Krishna Das, the owner of the press, visited Seth Sri Krishna Das Ji to visit Poddar. Kalyan was discussed during the conversation. Sri Krishna Das ji said - Brother must read the letter. Poddar also talked about lack of experience in front of them. Shri Krishna tenji talked about giving support Poddarji was shaking. Then Shri Krishnadas said to Poddar - God saved you from an earthquake in Assam. God wants you to do some great work. Poddarji was silent in front of this argument. Now "Kalyan" was registered and the material was collected and given to appear in the press. Shravan Krishna 11 Samvat 1983, "The first issue of Kalyan came out, the publisher was the Satsanga Bhawan Nimani Bari Bombay." The first issue of the welfare of the welfare was liked by all. Initially, 1600 customers were not all created. For Gandhiji, Goddess blesses Shri Gandhiji and advises not to publish advertisements and book reviews. Poddar ji did it and made a lifetime of it. Today, even in welfare, no advertisement is printed. The 12th digit of Kalyan and the first digit of second year came out from Bombay, after its publication (1927 AD), Geetapen started from Gorakhpur, Poddar ji for this occasion. Came from Gorakhpur (Ref. "Kalyan Path Producer and Rahi", Bhagwati Prasad Singh Publisher, Radhamadhav Institute, Gorakhpur edition, Sr. No. 2027).

Bhaiji invited Kalyan to form an ideal and interesting journal, then wrote a letter to the writers and saints, who kept interfering with the Mahatma's religious subjects across the country and invited articles on various subjects for it. At the same time, he made attractive paintings of deities and bestowed them with the best artists and published them in welfare. Brother Ji became so engrossed in this work that he started giving his full time for this. Bhaiji also saw the work of educating the welfare of the welfare and finalizing the color. For this, he used to give eighteen hours daily. Instead of recognizing Kalyan as the only magazine of Hindu religion, he published articles from scholars of all religions, teachers, Jain monks, Ramanuj, Nimbarka, Madhav etc.. Geetapress

Bhaiji published more than six hundred books in Gita Press Gorakhpur during his lifetime. At the same time, he also took care of the fact that these books are available only at the cost of the readers. To make Kalyan more interesting and informative, special issues have been published from time to time on its various topics. Bhai ji did away with the propaganda in his lifetime and did such things which can be imagined. In 1936, there was a fierce flood in Gorakhpur. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru - When he visited Gorakhpur, under the pressure of the then British government, there was no person available to him in the car, because the English collector had kept all the people proud, whoever Nehru ji The name of his car will be written in the list of rebels. But brother gave his car to Nehru. Famine

In 1938, when there was a severe famine in Rajasthan, Bhai reached the famine-affected area and arranged for fodder for cattle as well as with famine victims. Bhaiji played an important role in establishing Vedas and schools at places like Badrinath, Jagannathpuri, Rameswaram, Dwarka, Kalladi Srirangam etc. During his lifetime, Bhai Ji created literature of over 25 thousand pages.

The bad effects of films on the society are going to come to light. These things were warned by Bhai Ji in his book 'Cinema Entertainment or Destruction'. In relation to women's oppression in the name of dowry, Bhai Ji had expressed his serious views on this evil by writing an inspirational book like 'Dowry in marriage'. For the education of women, brother Bhai Ji wrote a book in the name of 'Women Education' and in the name of current education to improve education system. Bhai ji contributed a lot in the Goraksha movement. He supported the 166-day fast by the Mahatma Ramchandra Veer in the Virat Garaaksha Movement of 1966. There are many miraculous and inspirational events associated with the life of Bhai ji. But the most important thing in his life is that despite having a relationship with a prosperous family and having a connection with many important people in his lifetime and acquiring close proximity, Bhai ji did not even touch his pride. They have been thinking about lifelong common man. His contribution in the promotion and dissemination of Sanatan Dharma and religious literature in this country is remarkable. He did not take a part of the income from the publication of books from Geeta Press Gorakhpur and made a written document that no member of his family would be a part of his earnings.

Seeing his religion and literary service in Gorakhpur and his popularity in British times, the then British collector Pedley had proposed to embellish him with the title of 'Rai Saheb', but Bhai ji politely rejected this proposal Gave. After this, British Commissioner Hobart proposed to give the title of 'Rai Bahadur' but Bhai did not accept this proposal.

After the independence of the country, in consultation with Dr, Fullanand, Kanhaiyalal Munshi and others, the then Union Home Minister Govind Vallabh Pant proposed to embroider brother Bharat ji with Bharat Ratna, but Bhai Ji had also Not shown interest. ending
