Backspin is a technique that consists of repeating a particular section of music through two trays and a mixer with two equal discs, while the Breakbeat (instrumental part of the song) section is playing in one of the discs, the other goes back and "prepares" to repeat the same breakbeat. The intention of the creator of this style, Kool DJ Herc was to extend the sections of breakbeat and thus give the B-Boys (break-boys, so called because they dedicated to dance in breakbeats) more time to perform their steps , as they took advantage of this section of music to throw themselves on the floor to demonstrate their dance steps.
