The Creighton process in a reductive method in organic chemistry consisting of the hydrogenation of a linear chain polyhydroxyaldehyde (usually an aldose); the standard example is the reduction of 2,3,4,5,6-pentahydroxyhexanal (or aldohexose). The product is 1,2,3,4,5,6-hexanohexol (or hexitol); can be applied to other aldoses. The product has two extra hydrogens: the -CHO group is replaced by -CH2OH.

The Creighton process was patented in the 1920s. For more details, see the .
