Susan Kouguell


Susan Kouguell is an American screenwriter and director.

Kouguell worked as a story analyst and editor for Warner Bros., Republic Pictures, Viacom, Punch Productions, and Paramount Pictures and wrote voice over texts for Miramax. As the director of Su-City Pictures East, LLC, a film consulting firm founded in 1990, she co-operates with more than a thousand script authors, filmmakers, producers and film studios around the world.

Since 2000, she has been teaching film and screenwriting at Tufts University, at the Prague Film School. She published several books for screenwriters and wrote a monthly column for NewEnglandFilm.com. For the composer Alvin Singleton, she wrote the text for the Praisemaker choir. Kouguell shot six short films, which were included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art and exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art Biennale. She received prizes and scholarships from the MacDowell Colony, the Jerome Foundation, the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the Edward Albee Foundation.
