Venous estasis

Venous stasis, or venous stasis, is a condition that involves the slow circulation of blood in the veins, usually the legs. Venous stasis is a risk factor for thrombus formation in the veins (venous thrombosis), as in the case of deep vein veins called deep venous thrombosis (DVT).

Causes of venous stasis include long periods of immobility that may be due to driving, flying, bed rest, or wearing an orthopedic cast.

In the case of pathophysiological damage stasis occurs in a type of vascular modification, where vasoconstriction, vasodilatation and finally stasis first occurs.
