Rudolf Kummerer

Rudolf Kummerer (* 27 December 1883 in Flöhau, Bohemia, † 15 August 1961 in Spittal on the Drau, Carinthia) was an Austrian composer.

The brass musician and Kärntner Landeskapellmeister created numerous popular marches even today. From 1933 to 1936 and 1946 to 1948, Kummer was the Kapellmeister of the Musikkapelle Kolbnitz. As Landeskapellmeister of Carinthia he played a great part in the development of the brass music system in Carinthia. The Großglockner march was performed on the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe on the occasion of the opening ceremony for the 12th anniversary of the Großglockner Hochalpenstraße on 3 August 1947.
