John Vorrasi


John Fredrick Vorrasi (* 26. Mai 1948 in Rochester (New York); † 23. Februar 2015 in Chicago) war ein US-amerikanischer Sänger (Tenor).

Vorrasi was known as an opera and concert singer. He joined, among others, the Chicago Opera Theater, the Aldeburgh Festival, the Spoleto Festival and the International Music Festival in Geneva. At concerts, he was by William Ferris, Lee Hoiby and Ned Rorem. In addition to broadcasting from Chicago, the BBC and Radio Vatican performances Vorrasis. Under the direction of the composer, he sang in Chicago in the premieres of Gian Carlo Menotti's opera The Egg and the O Pulchritudo Mass.

With William Ferris, he founded the William Ferris Chorale in 1971, for which he was the artistic director, tenors, and general manager of public relations. He was also active as a librettist (for Ferris), translator (for William Mathias), essayist and author of Liner Notes. He was a member of the Order of the Holy Sepulcher at Jerusalem; most recently in the rank of an officer.
