Border crossing Gudow / Zarrentin
The border crossing point before Zarrentin (12 November 1989)
The border crossing Gudow / Zarrentin was one of the few border crossing points to be passed between the GDR and the Federal Republic of Germany.
The transition was established together with the motorway 24 and opened with the motorway in November 1982. It lay between the municipalities Gudow in Schleswig-Holstein and Zarrentin in the district of Schwerin of the GDR and from 1990 in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The GDR control units were located south of the motorway on the site of today's Valluhn / Gallin business park. The remnants of the handling facilities were demolished around 1993.
The facilities of the Control Center of the German Customs and the Federal Border Guard were located on the site of today's resting place Gudow. The main building, which is located in the rest area Gudow-Nord, was converted into the "Autobahnhotel Gudow-Nord".
