Urbano José Allgayer


Urbano José Allgayer (born 16 March 1924 in Lajeado, Rio Grande do Sul) is a Brazilian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Passo Fundo. Edit LifeQualtext

Urbano José Allgayer received priest ordination on 10 December 1950.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 5 February 1974 as titular bishop of Tunnuna and auxiliary bishop in Porto Alegre. The archbishop of Porto Alegre, Alfredo Vicente Cardinal Scherer, gave him the bishop's ordination on the 24th of that year; Co-criminals were Alberto Frederico Etges, Bishop of Santa Cruz do Sul, and Nei Paulo Moretto, Bishop of Cruz Alta.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Passo Fundo on 4 February 1982. On 19 May 1999, John Paul II accepted his age-resigned resignation. Weblinks Edit sourcetext
