She was the daughter of the writer Walter of Molo and the twin sister of Conrad of Molo. She grew up in Berlin. There she completed her artistic education with Mary Wigman and played at different stages in the city on the river Spree. It was known mainly in 1931 by her main role in the film The Rape of Mona Lisa, a successful crime comedy.

Trude von Molo, who was briefly married to the director Kurt Bernhardt, already ended her career as an actress in 1934. She emigrated to Latin America and later went to the USA. In 1987 she received the filmed in gold for many years and outstanding work in the German film. The award was received in her absence by her twin brother. She died in Paris on 27 November 1989.
