Muthuswamy Dixit (1775-1835) was a great poet and composer of South India. He is one of the three prominent and popular figures of Karnataka music. He made more than 500 compositions. His compositions in Carnatic music concerts are cohabited and played in abundance.

He was the son of Ramaswamy Dixit. His grandfather's name was Govind Dikshit. He was born in Thiruvarur or Thiruvaruar or Thiruvayyyaru (now in Tamil Nadu). His elder brother's name was Subbaram. Education

By keeping the tradition of Brahmin education, Muthu Swami learned and thoroughly studied Sanskrit language, Vedas and other major religious texts. He got his early education from his father. After some time, for learning Muthu Swami, the great saints went to Banaras or Varanasi with Chidambaramnath Yogi and there was a continuation of that study and study period of 5 years. The master gave them the enlightenment and taught them Indian music. After the death of Guru, Mutu Swamy returned to South India. When he was with Chidmarnarath Yogi, he traveled extensively in northern India and found a lot of learning. During his study and reading, his master gave him a special harp. Mudu Swamy's guru Chidambarnarnath Yogi's samadhi can still be seen in Sri Chakan Lakseshwar Temple, Hanuman Ghat, Varanasi. creative work

Muthu Swam visited many pilgrimages and temples and visited the gods and goddesses. He also visited Lord Murugan or Muruga or Kartikeya, the ruler of Tiruttani, and composed many songs in his praise. In Tiruttutani, he composed the first work, "Shri Nathadhi Gurguhoe Jayati". This song has been composed in Mayamalavagulam Raga and Ad Tal. After that he traveled to all the famous temples. In India, Ceylon and many Nepalese temples also have pilgrimages. He created many works in the praises of gods and goddesses in all the temples there. Muthu Swamy Dikshitar composed more than 3,000 such songs which were based on devotion or were based on some noble sentiment. He created many works such as Navagrah masterpiece, Kamalamba Navaranam masterpiece, Abhyamba Navaavaram Kriti, Shiva Nawavaram masterpiece, Panchalalinga Venkuti, Maniparvav master, etc. Muthu Swamy has given special mention of Bhav, Raga and Taala in all his works. Muthu Swamy Dikshit is also known as the 'pen name' of his 'gurughah'. All those customs have been created in Chaukal period. In his work "Balgopal", he is known as the Vaaniic Singer. Death

He continued to sing too many songs, as soon as he started the song "Meen Lochni Loch Mochni", then only Muthu Swamy raised his hands and died after saying "See Shiva" (Its Meaning God, Excuse Me!). His samadhi is in Atyayapuram (this great poet is also the birthplace of Subrahmanyam Bharati). This place is near Koilpatti and Tuticorin.
