Grant Brandell

James Brandell is the current bass player of the metalcore band Underoath. It was added after the release of Underoath's third album, The Changing of Times. He was the former guitarist of the metal band Becoming Anthesis. Brandell was born and raised in the Bay of Tampa, Florida and has been playing music since seventh grade. He started playing saxophone at school and played for seven years. He started playing bass at age 16 to replace the band bassist he had left, and has been playing ever since. Before Underoath he also played in a Christian ska band, Point Blank, where he met James Smith, who is the rhythm guitarist for Underoath. Brandell was almost raised in the church, went with his family and converted to Christianity when he was 13 years old. Brandell uses the Ampeg 8x10 Bass Cabinet, Ampeg Svt Pro 4 Amp head, a Sans Amp Rack Pre-amp and an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray. Discography
