On counting different types, the Ramayana comes in the number from three hundred to one thousand in various forms. Among these, Valmiki Ramayana (Ashram Ramayana) in Sanskrit is considered to be the oldest.
Literature Research The original source of official knowledge of Lord Rama is Ramayana by Maharishi Valmiki. Valmiki is considered as the poet of the world due to this glorified book. Shriram Katha is not limited to Valmiki Ramayana, but in the Mahabharata composed by Muni Vyas, it is also mentioned in four places- Ramopadhyayan, Aranyak Parva, Drona Parva and Shantiparva. In Jain literature, many books of Ram Katha were written in which the main ones are: Padmacharitra (Prakrit) by Vimalasurya, Padma Purana (Sanskrit) by Rabisanacharya, self-made Padamachitra (Apabhramsa), Ramachandra Charitra Purana and Gunabhadraa Uttara Purana (Sanskrit). According to the Jain tradition, Ram's original name was 'Padam'.
Second, Ram Katha was written in many Indian languages too. There are at least 11 in Hindi, 8 in Marathi, 25 in Bengali, 12 in Tamil, 12 in Telugu and 6 in Ramyaayan. Dharma Samrat Swami Karpattri composed Ramayana meditation and gave Ramagoth a scientifically-mediated interpretation in it. Many of the Ram Katha presently present in the Ramanayana include Arsh Ramayana, Amarnath Ramayana, Kritivas Ramayana, Bilanka Ramayana, Maithil Ramayan, Sarvartha Ramayana, Tattartha Ramayana, Prem Ramayana, Sanjivani Ramayana, Uttara Ramcharitam, Raghuvansham, Patternottam, Kamb Ramayan, Bhusundi Ramayan, Spirituality Ramayan , Radheshyam Ramayana, Sriraghvandacharitam, Mantra Ramayana, Yogavashith Ramayana, Hanumannakatkam, Anand Ramayana, Abhishek Natakam, Janakiharanam etc. are main.
In the foreign countries too, Ramakian and Ramakritya of Thailand, best wishes of Tibetan Ramayana, Khotani Ramayana of eastern Turkey, Saratram of Java, Seri Ram, Ramkeling, Padarinamakatha, Indochayanki Ramkarti (Ramkirti), Khamairamayana, Burma (Myanmar), Yutoki Ramayagan; Does.
