Palace of the Lions (San Cristóbal)


The construction of the Palace of the Lions was made by General Eustoquio Gómez of the Presidency of the State Tachira, between 1925 and 1931. By decree dated December 6, 1922 and his works ended with a grand solemn inauguration, on 19 December 1931. When the Palace of Lions was completed in 1931, it became the building of public character and state, as well as the highest hierarchy of the city and important symbol of the modern era.

After its inauguration in 1931, its original destiny for the Municipality was rejected and the building was transferred to headquarters of the Government of the State Tachira and the Legislative Assembly, distributing its spaces for the offices and offices of the executive and legislative branches as well as for the secretariats and addresses of both, in charge of the top administration of the affairs of the State (Samir Sanchez Experience / Arte San Cristobal Tachira).
