Armalausi

The Armalausi were a Germanic tribe, which appears on the Tabula Peutingeriana in the 3rd and 4th centuries between the two tribes of the Alamanni and the Markomans. The Armalausi were probably a part of the Hermunduren. The historian and cartographer Philippus Brietius localized it in 1650 on its map Imperium Romanum probably near the Upper Palatinate. Probably, the Armalausi in the fourth century then arose in the tribe of the Alamanni. The name appears to be of Latin origin, for Arma is Latin for "weapon" or "tool", and louse for "praise" or "glorification". Edit the source text Edit source text Weblinks Edit sourcetext
