Andreas of Hungary

Andreas was the second son of King Charles I Robert of Hungary and his wife Elisabeth b. Princess of Poland, sister of the last Piast, king Casimir the Great. On 28 September 1333 he was engaged with his second cousin Johanna of Anjou. The wedding took place in spring 1342. After his wife had become Queen of Naples in 1343, on January 19, 1344, under the influence of his brother Ludwig, Pope Clement VI, the feudal lord, was granted the royal dignity.
