Rowing Club Pontejos

Pontejos Remo Club is a sports club in Pontejos, Cantabria (Spain) that has played races in all categories and modalities of fixed bank, in bateles, trainerillas and trawlers. History The Pontejos Rowing Club was founded on April 18, 1964 thanks to the contribution of Julio Ruiz García, José Luís Valdueza Maza, Agustín Ruiz García and Pedro Ruiz García, and after competing in batters and trainerillas since the seventies, continued in active until the year 1972, arriving to participate in some championship of Spain, in the modality of 4 +.

After twenty years of inactivity in the summer of 1989 and thanks to José Luís Valdueza Maza was put back into operation the entity. Thanks to this work, in 1993 it was possible to form a senior team that competed in batters as in trainerillas, and later to happen to row in trawler in Virgén of the Harbor of the Club of Remo Santoña.

The following year, these seniors returned to Pontejos and managed to debut in traineras in 1994. The year 1997 was a sad year for the entity, due to the death in February of the president, Jose Luis Valdueza Maza, for that reason the trawler happened to be called like him and later the regata created a memorial to the best Cantabrian boat. Since 1994, he has been competing uninterruptedly until the 2007 season, which he played in the ARC League. In 2008, the club announced to the league ARC, that by economic problems was not going to participate in the league and its subsequent disappearance.

In 2006, they won the Flag of Getaria, also were fourth in the LIX Championship of Spain of Traineras and disputed the classification of the Flag of the Shell. In 2007, they disputed the Spanish Championship of trainerillas finishing in fourth place and also they were silver in the regional of bateles although they were ninth in the Championship of Spain. That year they disputed the Liga ARC in the group I, but the economic problems did not return to leave again in the following years.
