Rogelio Esquivel Medina received the sacrament of priestly ordination on 13 September 1970.

On June 27, 2001, Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Garriana and auxiliary bishop of Mexico City. The Archbishop of Mexico City, Norberto Cardinal Rivera Carrera, donated the bishop's ordination to him on the 15th of August of that year; Co-conspirators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Mexico, Archbishop Giuseppe Bertello, and the Bishop of Ecatepec, Onésimo Cepeda.
