Pocharam


A view of Lake Pocharam with herons and egrets Pocharam Wildlife Sanctuary is a forest and wildlife sanctuary located 15 km from Medak and 115 km from Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It covers over 130 square kilometers, which was an ancient hunting ground of the Nizam and which was declared a wildlife sanctuary in the twentieth century. It takes the name of the Pocharam lake, formed from the construction of embankments of the Allair 1.916-1922. The sanctuary has an ecotourism center for visitors. It is home to many species of birds and mammals.
