Sundbärg Index
The Sundbärg index is a graphical representation used in demography for population study. It was proposed by the Swedish statistician Alex Gustav Sundbärg during his research on the evolution of the population of Sweden from the eighteenth to the twentieth century. This index is based on the population group between 15 and 49 years of age, comparing it graphically with the group of 0 to 14 years and that of the over 50. When the percentage of children under 15 years exceeds that of the 50 is defined as the progressive population. If these percentages are similar it is considered stationary and if the group of over 50 exceeds that of children under 15 it is considered regressive. Bibliography
